For his birthday jack decided he wanted a sweetie covered cake, which actually turned out to be fairly simple!
Recipe, per layer, so depends on how many colours you want. Each portion of batter is for a 20cm tin.
- 100g caster sugar
- 100g butter
- 2 eggs
- 100g self raising flour
- 1 to spoon milk
- Drop of gel food colouring
Cream the butter and sugar, beat eggs and fold in flour. Add the milk and food colouring until required depth of colour is reached.
Layer the sponge with jam and butter icing. Cover the cake with fondant icing, in whatever colour suits and then using a little butter icing to stick pic’n’mix to the top of the cake. I bought a selection of fun lollipops to stick out of the cake as well.
