Places to visit guest Post series

Who doesn’t like travelling?! I’m sure you all have a bucket list of places you want to visit or a dream holiday. I love to go on holiday and I would love to travel more if only possible but at the moment it’s limited because my boys were still little. However, it’s nice to indulge and get inspiration from travel bloggers who are happy to share their experiences and recommended places for a holiday or travel destination.

Since travelling is one of our interests but we can’t do as much as we would like at the moment that we are launching a “places to visit” guest series

The #placestovisit guest series will be a new Wednesday regular weekly feature on the blog and aims to feature fellow bloggers sharing their traveling diary, experiences, holidays and recommended places they have visited, uk and abroad. It would be a valuable insight to hear their journey of adventure so that when our turn comes, we will be ready and things we learn from their post will be handy for travelling.

The first guest post will start next week. If you would like to take part in this guest series and would like some more information please message me to get in touch.

Since we originally came from the Philippines, I would kick start this guest series by showcasing you why you should visit the philippines.

Phobias? Insomnia? Addiction? Anxiety? Here’s something new to try.

Personally I suffer from dentist phobia, I have since I was little. I get worked up days before my appointment, losing sleep and getting anxious and then on the day of the appointment I will feel sick and get a tight upsetting feeling in my stomach and will often have panic attacks in moments before I go in.

When I was contacted by Hypnosis Ninja I immediately though to trial their “fear of dental work” track.

The track is sent to your email and you can save it to iCloud which means you can play it directly from there. It is about 10 minutes long, you need to be sitting or lying comfortably (ie not being distracted by other things and definitely not driving), I used it as heading off to sleep, I found it help settle me really quickly as it has a meditative quality to it as well (they state that you can happily fall asleep while listening to it and it still works).

I listened to the track about 10 times, although they say it can work from listening to it once, and had a dentist appointment this week: I slept normally the night before and although I still got anxious and nervous before my appointment I did not have a panic attack and was much more calm than normal. So I would say it has helped.

Hypnosis Ninja offer all kinds of hypnosis help:

I’m off to download the “get to sleep fast” track to try out with Bethany! I hope there is something here for you to try x

Xtava curling wand review

My hair is naturally straight so a bit of curling wand can give it a volume and style sometimes. It’s my first time to try xtava brand. It comes on it own packaging which looks presentable and would make a great gift.

The pack content included a travelling bag, heat resistant glove to protect your skin from getting burn. Everything you need to know is in the user manual. The wand or barrel appeared to be a bit thick compare to other curling wand. This is the only thing I can fault because it’s difficult to reach the back of your hair especially if you have a short length.

You can turn it on & off at the middle button and you can control the temperature with the left and right arrow button. The temperature does heat up quickly. It does provide a good quality of curl which is nice. I thought it’s a good value of money for its price of £20 at Amazon ( price at time of this review ) I’m pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it. Check out my video review on YouTube.

Disclaimer : I was sent the xtava curling wand for the purpose of this review. However, all thoughts and opinion are my own.

Vitapacks whitening beauty products review

While I was in the philippines I was sent product to try and test. Vitapacks sent me a set of beauty product which includes soap, lotion, face mask and mega white supplement. While it is a big thing in the UK to use fake tan and try to brown your skin more, in the Philippines it is popular to have pale skin and less tan, so you get whitening products instead of tanning products.

The soap is 8 in 1 which has anti-aging, anti-blemish and many more. What I love about this soap is that it doesn’t melt very easily and it doesn’t dry up my skin compare to other whitening product I have tried before. Some whitening soap is a bit strong and does sting on my face but this one is gently and smells nice too. My face has got few pimples after I came back from my holiday and they slowly disappear after using the soap. I’m pleased with the result because it even Out the dark tan lines I got from wearing my eye glasses.

The lotion smells nice and has a lovely texture. It’s not thick or heavy, it just feels perfect when applied on my skin. I feel like it moisturises my skin and evens out the tan lines patch area that I have such as my wrist watch mark which is slowly fading. I love this lotion, it’s one of the best whitening I have ever tried.

The face mask is so amazing. It feels luxurious on the skin and makes it feeling softer and nice to touch. It’s so refreshing once applied and makes my skin looking fresh after using it.

The supplement seems effective as few people notice that I’m glowing and complimented me. Looking at my before and after photo, I can definitely see some difference and changes. My skin appeared brighter and more looking good compare to the tired and dull looking one before trying them all. I’m really pleased with the result and I would definitely recommend them if you want to use them not just because of the lightening reason but also to even out your skin tone and have a bit of glow. What I love about this product is also doesn’t irritate my skin or it’s not harsh compare to other whitening brand I have tried in the past. It won’t give you an instant whitening effect but you can definitely see the difference after using them.

Disclaimer: Vitapacks set of product was sent to me for the purpose of this review but this does not not affect my thoughts and opinion after testing them. I’m only sharing my experience after trying them but bear in mind that everyone has a different reaction on every products.

Throw A FANGTASTIC Halloween Bash

Image

Halloween is only a few weeks away, and many of us are running to the supermarkets to buy the perfect pumpkin to carve, plenty of candy for trick or treaters… and of course decorations for a party! Planning parties can be a little stressful, but mostly fun because you get to play around with idea and be as creative as you want.

The secret to throwing the spookiest party you can is to first plan the following things:

· Date and Time

· Who’s Invited

· Theme

· Scary or Fun?

· Food Options

The easiest place to hold a party is at home. You can decorate your whole house to feel like a haunted house, knock up some scary recipes in your cozy plan kitchen rand make the most of playing hostess for the night. You will be able to create the perfect ambience for your SPOOKTACULAR and keep all of your guests entertained!

To really add to the creepy atmosphere of a Halloween bash, why not hold it in your garden? You can set up a gazebo and hang up skeletons on the trees to scare people as they approach the house.

Some simple treats you could make can include:

· Jack Skellington Oreo Pops

· Spooky S’Mores Dip (paint the marshmallows to look like ghosts)

· Ladies Fingers (Sponge fingers and Jelly)

· Witches Cauldron Punch

Once you’ve decided on everything you want to create for your Halloween bash and who you’d like to invite, it’s time to decide whether you want a theme or not. Themed parties are fun and take everyone back to their childhoods, so this is a great option for you and will help you decide what kind of decorations and games to play.

GHOST : The simplest theme you can have involves everyone dressing up as a ghost. It could be a full glow in the dark costume or an old bed sheet, the choice is yours.

MOVIE MONSTERS : There have been some very iconic horror movies in the last few decades, and giving your guests free reign might give you some fun surprises. Someone will no doubt dress up as Pennywise, and don’t be shocked if you see a few Dracula’s and Freddy Krueger’s around.

CLOWNS! : If you don’t like clowns (we don’t blame you) then this theme is not for you. The theme is broad so you could end up with some cute, fun clowns and some that look downright evil.

VAMPIRES : Excusing Twilight from the list, vampires can be menacing and evil creatures. A vampire theme would involve lots of bats, coffins and BLOOD (strawberry sauce or wine for the adults)

ANCIENT EGYPT : Egypt is full to the brim of mythical creatures, Pharaohs and Mummies to make for a colourful and crazy party. Just make sure that you make room for some pyramids in the backyard.

MOVIE PARTY: Movies are always a great choice for a party. You could go for a magical Harry Potter theme, choose something more galactic like Star Wars, or even go full Superhero and have a Marvel theme

#tsumtsumtravels travelling chums to make your journeys less painful

We all know how hard work travelling with children can be, check out our tips and hints here.

Posh Paws International, exclusive producers of the Tsum Tsum collection have recently brought out the Tsum Tsum Vacation Pack.

The Tsum Tsums are all dressed ready for their summer holidays. Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Dumbo and Pluto (I love Pluto best!) all with rubber rings, goggles, swimming hats and surf boards, they are so cute!

Since we are a blogging team we separated our Tsum Tsum buddies and half went off to the Philippines with Epril and half stayed home with me an my kids (sorry for the boring holiday Minnie, Dumbo and Pluto lol).

They went to the Arundel Wildfowl Trust with us, spent time on Worthing seafront and helped teach my kids to ride their bikes!

The Tsum Tsums are small enough to fit in your handbag and yet really help entertain the kids when they are getting bored. Definitely a toy worth pulling out when the kids start getting irritate half way through the journey.

Here are a few of Epril’s photos from the Philippines, even if their holiday was upset by a family disaster.

Galleoneers recipe kit review

Being a busy working mum, I love the idea of having a subscription recipe kit which is tailored for children. It’s a good idea for them to take interest in the kitchen at a very young age while I’m there to help them which will also create a special memory of bonding. My kids are a bit fussy when it comes to foods hence Galleoneers recipe kit is the perfect way to enjoy cooking and spend family time. I’m hoping that cooking with them will help them to have a positive relationship with food so that they can make a healthier choice.

About Galleoneers

Galleoneers is a subscription of recipe kits for kids aged between 3 to 12 years old. Their recipe kits teach your kids to appreciate diverse cuisines around the world. What I love about Galleoneers is that it comes with 3 recipes which include starters or snacks, mains and desserts which will help my kids to learn varieties of cooking and food preparation. Galleoneers also offer alternative recipes ( through their cooking club ) so you can have more option and also good for people with specific diet.

Japanese themed recipe kit

We were sent a ” Japanese Theme ” recipe kit which pack in a small box with a beautiful themed design. My boys were excited to open the box. Inside is a beautifully wrapped recipe kit. It is well packaged so would make a great gift. The recipes to make were sushi, chicken yakisoba and red beans ice lolly. The recipe kit also comes with seaweed sheets, sushi rolling Mat, wooden spatula and origami sheets for arts & craft activity.

Grocery shopping for the ingredients

When my recipe kit shipped, the list of ingredients were emailed to me to buy and a grocery shopping list is also included in the kit. Alternative ingredients can also be found in the book which is very helpful and flexible. I took my youngest child with me in buying the ingredients which is fun. He help me find the stuff needed and I let him hold the grocery list. It is also a good way for him to get to know the name of the ingredients such as those avocado, spring onion and asparagus.

Starter

Japanese sushi

It’s our first time to make sushi and my boys ( 6 and 3 years old ) really enjoyed making it. The instruction were easy to understand and follow. My boys had fun as if they were playing. Our sushi doesn’t look perfect but what matters is that my boys loved it.

Main

Chicken yakisoba

My daughter did the cooking of the chicken yakisoba since she loves noodles. She enjoyed doing it all herself without any help from me. She easily followed the instruction since she is 14 years old which is above of the age recommended for the recipe kit which is 3-12 years old. She likes learning to cook from recipes which is wonderful. She find the recipe interesting and fun to cook.

Dessert

Red beans ice lolly

My 3 years old son took interest in making the ice lolly. He was cute and charming as he patiently waited for my instruction as I help him to make the ice lolly. He looked at the picture in the booklet and said are you ready mommy? Oh bless him…He was really keen in helping making foods in the kitchen and he found it so exciting and fun doing all the mixing. He even put them in the freezer by himself.

What do we think about the Galleoneers subscription recipe kit?

I thought it’s a brilliant idea. I would never thought I would have fun cooking with my children. Having a recipe kit which is simple and easy to follow is wonderful for children to get them involved in the kitchen. It is also good for a quality bonding time as a family. The price seems to be a good value of money considering it comes with a 3 recipe compare to other subscription recipe kit that only comes in one, however it would be nice if the more unusual ingredients were included, as I struggled to find some of them. It also included a free exclusive membership to their cooking club.

Bodyshop vanilla pumpkin set review

I received my free bodyshop vanilla pumpkin set after subscribing to cosmopolitan magazine so I thought I might as well review it and share with you.

The design was definitely very seasonal which is perfect this autumn. It’s also Christmassy with its red ribbon on top of the pumpkin so it’s also good for winter. This set is actually amazing and would make a perfect gift.

The scent is a kind of sweet subtle vanilla with a hint or undertone of pumpkin. It’s kind of yummy, you know when your baking and it’s kind of delicious with a hint of spice. It’s just amazing.

The body butter is thick and creamy which is perfect this winter. It suits for people with dry skin since it’s very moisturising. It feels luxurious on the skin and makes it smoother.

The hand cream is so cute and very essential. It’s like the body butter which nourish the hands and nails. I love the way it feels on my palms and the scent is just gorgeous.

The shimmery mist is a beauty. The glass does shape like a ball of crystal and inside you can see the shimmer but it’s not visible when you spritz it to your neck. It’s just fancy and kind of sweet. It gives you that wonderful feeling which makes you appreciate the beauty of autumn and winter season.

The shower gel is just perfect. It has the right consistency and scent you need to indulge yourself and get relax when showering. You come out feeling pampered and smell nice.

The set price is £36 which i thought is a good value of money. I definitely love this range from bodyshop and so excited in using them everyday. It gives me a feeling of warmth at this colder days. I would definitely recommend them.

Why I miss the philippines?

We just got back from the Philippines and there is something that makes me feel sad coming back here to the uk. I’m not feeling  motivated about going back to my old routine. I’m wondering if it’s the weather here, as it’s so gloomy when we arrived back in the uk plus it’s cold again. Being in the philippines, I was sweating everyday due to the heat and I find the sunshine makes me happier and seeing my family is such a wonderful feeling. Now I’m back in the uk, I am remembering what I have missed about the philippines:

Family

I’m sure being homesick is pretty normal when you are far from your family and I’m really happy that even for a short period of time, I got to catch up with them. Maybe I’m having a mixed emotions. It’s also nice to have that extra help from families when you have children to look after.

Filipino food

I think I really missed the food in the philippines. There are so many varieties to choose from and loads of vegetables and fruits. I really missed eating filipino foods as I feel like I have been on a diet for ages being not able to eat most of Asian food as it’s not available to buy here in the uk. It’s also nice to be able to experienced eating food at the street. There is always a mini restaurant at the side of the road. We call it ” turo turo “, you just choose which food you want since it’s already cooked.

The weather

It’s really hot in the philippines but the everyday sunshine gives me a happy boost that it’s nice to wake up. It’s like a vitamin when you see it’s a sunny day and it gives you that feeling of motivation and energy to do things. Now I understand why English loves the sun so much and it’s the reason for them to go for a holiday to enjoy the sunshine.

The simple things

While I was there, I appreciated many simple things which were free. My children were able to go and have a swim in the river which was nice. We didn’t have to pay anything. Cooking food as well, there is loads of vegetable at the back garden so whenever we want to eat them just go get them and it’s free. We also have families and relatives giving us fruits and foods that they got from their garden.

The filipino carefree culture

I also missed the philippines because of the surroundings where you can see a lot of people everyday being laid back. Unlike here in the uk, you can also see people outside but it’s not like in the philippines were there is a lot of vendors in the street selling foods or stuff. People there also were carefree despite the safety issue which can cause their life. I’ve seen loads of people doing things not is not allowed here in the uk such as man carrying electric fan while being in a motor cycle, jeeps full of people inside and on the top of it and children’s and teenagers being at the back of a tricycles. Back here in the uk everything is so organised and have a system to follow when it comes to health and safety is nice but it’s not fun and can be boring. I never see people climbing trees here although I can understand the safety side of it. It’s completely opposite in the philippines which is a bit different but there is something about it that makes you feel cheerful. Whatever it is I’m grateful to be able to live here in the uk and experience the life here. After all uk is now my home and philippines will always be there whenever I want to go back.
